    WHAT TO EXPECT

A few things worth knowing before you order — so the device that arrives matches the experiment you have planned.

    1. Select your device length D-2

Specify the length your protocol requires when you order — we trim every device to spec in-house before it ships. No trimming required on your end.

For large-animal applications (pigs, NHP), please contact our engineering team directly for a custom-quoted length.

Inspect before use. Warranty claims must be made within 30 days of delivery and before any modification or implantation — once the device has been implanted or modified, we can't honor the limited warranty.

Download the "Select your device length" guide (PDF) →

    2. Your timeline

Each device is hand-built and tested to your configuration. Standard build time is 6–8 weeks from order confirmation. We confirm orders within two business days; the build clock starts when you receive your confirmation email.

Expedited builds (2–3 weeks) are available for select SKUs. If you have a study deadline, tell us when you order and we'll let you know what's possible.

    Frequently asked questions

No. IO Fiber is sold for research use only (RUO) in non-human animal subjects. Every order requires acknowledgment that the device will be used in compliance with an IACUC-approved protocol. The device is not validated, registered, or marketed for human use.
You must have an IACUC-approved protocol in place before you use the device. We don't require you to submit IACUC documentation to us, but you'll be asked to confirm at checkout that your use will comply with your institution's approved protocol.
Currently, our online store accepts credit-card payment via Stripe only. If your institution requires a purchase order or NET-30 terms, email us — we can quote and invoice your larger orders manually until we have PO support.
Orders can be cancelled within 2 business days of submission. After that, fees may apply. Used, implanted, modified (including trimmed), or custom devices cannot be returned. See the full Sale Terms & Conditions for details.
We provide a limited warranty against manufacturing defects. You must inspect your shipment within 30 days of delivery and before any modification — once a device is trimmed, implanted, or otherwise modified, we can't honor the warranty. See the full Sale Terms & Conditions.
US shipping only at launch. International orders are quoted manually — email us with your shipping address and we'll send a quote.
Yes. The three base configs (OEF / OE / OF) cover most research workflows; custom configurations (different fiber counts, channel densities, lengths, materials) are quoted directly. Email engineering with your spec.
Default IO Fiber devices ship at rodent length. For large-animal applications, contact engineering for a custom-quoted configuration.
When citing IO Fiber in methods sections, please include: device name (NeuroBionics IO Fiber), base configuration (OEF / OE / OF), connector and ferrule selections, QC tier, and the lot/batch number printed on your packing slip. We recommend including the lot number for reproducibility. (Citation format example — to be finalized by Marketing.)
